Hispanic Family Center VITA Site Information
Location: 2013 North Raleigh Blvd, Raleigh, NC, 27604 (near I-440 Yonkers Rd Exit)
Dates: Saturdays, February 7 - April 11, 2026
Hours: Saturday appointments available 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM.
Service: In-person tax preparation only
1. IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR 2025 TAXES
· A parent claiming the Child Tax Credit must now have a valid Social Security Number (SSN). See Tax Prep Checklist for additional information.
· Some TIP income received may be exempt from Federal Income Tax. ). See Tax Prep Checklist for additional information.
· If you received overtime pay in 2025 and were issued a W-2, please bring your final 2025 pay stub. See Tax Prep Checklist for additional information.
· If you paid auto loan interest on a new 2025 or 2026 passenger vehicle that you purchased in 2025 (and that was assembled in the U.S.), you need to bring documentation. See Tax Prep Checklist for additional information.
· Updates were made that increase the limits on State and Local Taxes (SALT) that can be included in an itemized deduction. This may enable you to claim an Itemized Deduction. See Tax Prep Checklist for additional information.
· The IRS is phasing out paper checks for refunds. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you have a bank account in the taxpayer’s name for direct deposit of refunds. See Tax Prep Checklist for additional information.
2. SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT
- Hours: Saturday appointments available 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM.
- Schedule an Appointment:
- Self-schedule: Click HERE to schedule online or
- Call (919) 286-1822 M-F 9 am-Noon or 1 pm-3 pm. Request an appointment at the Raleigh Hispanic Center site. You may need to leave a message and should receive a call back within 1-2 business days.
- If you require scheduling assistance AFTER contacting the scheduling center at least twice, email HFCVITA@gmail.com with your name, phone number, and availability (dates and times).
- PLEASE NOTE:
- Book TWO appointments for multiple years of tax returns, one hour apart (e.g., 11:00 AM and NOON).
- For multiple family members, book TWO appointments at the same time.
- For first-timers, complicated returns, or if you have many questions, schedule the appointment before 1 PM.
3. PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT
- Bring:
- Photo ID for all taxpayers and spouses if filing jointly.
- Tax ID (Social Security card, ITIN letter, or official SSA document) for the taxpayer, spouse, and all dependents.
- Prior-year tax return (optional but helpful).
- Tax Prep Checklist for review of required documentation.
- The completed Intake Form. If unable to print, it’s OK to pick it up and complete it onsite.
4. Important Reminders
- Both taxpayers must attend for joint returns.
- Appointments last ~1 hour but may vary. Please be flexible.
- Volunteers staff the VITA site.
- The staff tries to maintain the scheduled appointment time, but sometimes, we cannot. Feel free to reschedule if the delay is too long.
- Masks are encouraged but optional. Please reschedule your appointment if you are not feeling well.
Out-of-Scope Returns (examples): Rental Income, Depreciation and Amortization, Electric Vehicle Credit, Military Returns, Net Business Loss, Expenses for Business Use of Your Home, Actual Auto expenses for Business (Business Mileage is OK), Non-Resident Alien returns.
